Legend has it that approximately twenty years ago, a family of lizards, commonly know as the Italian wall lizard, put its roots in the happy green one-acre home of the Garden City Nursery School. Since then, the lizard family has grown and has sent the spirits a’ soaring. The children, parents, teachers, and friends all know of these elusive green creatures with which they share a home. It is a great hands-on way for the children to learn about science and nature, and they can’t help smiling whenever one fleetingly leaps across their path.
As such, the leapin’ lizard has become a sort of lucky charm and a symbol for Garden City Nursery School.
